DIGITAL TEMPERATURE CONTROLLERS

Precise Temperature Control for Consistent Quality, Higher Productivity & Lower Energy Consumption

Temperature is one of the most critical parameters in the corrugation process. Maintaining the right temperature consistently is essential for uniform flutes, proper gelatinization, high-quality 2-ply output and stable machine speeds.

Electro Heat Engineers' Digital Temperature Control Systems automatically maintain the optimum operating temperature by accurately sensing temperature and regulating the heating elements as required.

Unlike conventional timer-based controls, which operate heaters according to pre-set time intervals, temperature-based controls respond to the actual machine temperature. This allows the system to adapt to changes in paper GSM, machine load and ambient conditions.

With more than 2,000 units installed, Electro Heat's temperature control systems are designed to deliver reliable and consistent heating performance.

WHY ACCURATE TEMPERATURE CONTROL MATTERS

The objective of a heating system is not simply to generate heat, but to maintain the right temperature within the right range throughout production.

A Digital Temperature Control Panel establishes:

  • Upper temperature limit: Heaters switch OFF once the optimum temperature is achieved.
  • Lower temperature limit: Heaters switch ON when the temperature falls below the desired range.

This automatic regulation prevents both overheating and inadequate heating.

TOO MUCH HEAT CAN RESULT IN:

  • Higher electricity consumption and power bills
  • Deterioration in 2-ply quality
  • Increased maintenance of machine components and rollers
  • Reduced heater life
  • Excessive heat around the machine, affecting the working environment

TOO LITTLE HEAT CAN RESULT IN:

  • Uneven flutes in the 2-ply
  • Poor gelatinization
  • Lower machine speeds
  • Frequent production interruptions while the machine regains temperature

The right temperature is critical to achieving the right balance of speed, quality and efficiency.

TEMPERATURE-BASED CONTROL VS. TIMER-BASED CONTROL

Earlier heating systems predominantly used timer-based controls, switching heaters ON or OFF according to predetermined time intervals.

However, the heating requirement of a corrugation machine varies with:

  • Paper GSM and size
  • Machine speed and load
  • Ambient temperature
  • Operating conditions

A timer measures time, not the actual machine temperature.

Electro Heat's temperature-based system continuously monitors temperature and automatically regulates the heaters accordingly.

The heaters operate when heat is required — and stop when the required temperature is achieved.

This provides more accurate and consistent heating while reducing manual intervention.

The system incorporates an easy-to-monitor digital temperature display, with specially designed dual-step controls available for fingerless high-speed machines.

KEY BENEFITS

CONSISTENT MACHINE SPEED

Accurate temperature control maintains stable operating conditions and supports consistent machine speeds, even when paper GSM or ambient conditions change.

LOWER ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION

Once the required temperature is achieved, heaters automatically switch OFF, avoiding unnecessary heating.

Accurate automatic temperature controls can reduce electricity consumption by approximately 10–20%.

CONSISTENT 2-PLY QUALITY

Maintaining temperature within the desired range supports:

  • Uniform flutes
  • Better gelatinization
  • Consistent 2-ply quality
  • Reduced rejection

Effective use of temperature controls essentially results in better 2-ply output due to consistent heating and zero-rejection losses.

LESS DEPENDENCE ON OPERATOR SKILL

Manual temperature control relies on the operator's judgement and can result in temperature fluctuations.

Automatic temperature control regulates heating according to the actual temperature, making the process less dependent on individual operator skill.

LONGER HEATER LIFE

Automatic switching prevents unnecessary overheating and reduces thermal stress on heating elements, contributing to longer heater life.

LONGER LIFE OF MACHINE COMPONENTS

Maintaining the appropriate temperature can reduce unnecessary thermal stress and contribute to improved life of rollers, bushes, bearings and other machine components.
